Privacy Policy

Last Updated: June 21, 2026

⚠️ DISCLAIMER: This Privacy Policy is a general template and should be reviewed by legal counsel before publication.

1. Introduction

Boring Scanner is designed with your privacy in mind. We believe that utility tools should stay out of your way and handle your personal files with care. This policy describes how we collect, process, and protect your information when using the mobile application.

2. Information We Collect

To provide a reliable scanning experience and manage subscriptions, we may collect basic technical identifiers, crash reports, and transactional records as described below.

3. Documents and Scan Data

We do not read, view, or upload the contents of the documents you scan. Core scanning is designed to process crops, perspective changes, and visual filters on your hardware. Your scans stay on your device unless you choose to save, export, share, sync, or use features that explicitly require cloud processing.

4. Camera Permission

Boring Scanner requires camera permission to capture photographs of paper documents. We do not activate the camera unless the scanning viewport is open, and video frames are only analyzed locally on your device for border alignment.

5. Storage Permission

We require local storage permissions to write, read, and export compiled PDF files directly to your device directory structure.

6. Account Information

Core scanning features do not require you to register an account. However, an account may be required for subscription management, billing updates, cross-device sync, or premium features enabled in future app versions.

7. Payment and Subscription Information

Subscriptions are processed through third-party services (such as RevenueCat, Apple App Store, and Google Play Store). We do not store credit card details on our servers; transactions are managed directly by your platform provider.

8. Analytics and Crash Reporting

We may use privacy-conscious analytics and crash reporting platforms (such as Firebase Crashlytics) to log diagnostics, device hardware models, and app crashes. This helps us ensure that the app remains stable across diverse real-world conditions.

9. How We Use Information

We use collected metrics to resolve bugs, optimize image processing, verify subscription status, and handle support requests sent directly by users.

10. How Documents are Stored

Your document database is stored within local app containers. Deleted files are removed from the local database immediately.

11. On-Device Processing

Core scanning and filter application are designed on-device where possible. This keeps your document processing private and rapid.

12. Cloud Features

Some features, such as backup sync or integrations with third-party cloud services (like Google Drive), require cloud authorization. If you choose to enable these, documents are synced directly using official APIs under your active consent.

13. Third-Party Services

Boring Scanner utilizes third-party platforms (like Firebase and RevenueCat) for subscription validations and error log collections. These providers maintain their own independent privacy agreements.

14. Data Retention

We retain general support logs and analytical metrics only as long as necessary to address app stability issues or resolve billing discrepancies.

15. User Rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights under the GDPR or CCPA to request data erasure or export logs. Please email us at our support queue to initiate a request.

16. Children’s Privacy

Boring Scanner does not knowingly collect personal identifiers from children under 13.

17. Security

We apply standardized local encryption structures (such as secure storage keys) to prevent unauthorized extraction of device credentials or local PIN codes.

18. Changes to This Policy

We may modify this policy occasionally. When updates occur, we will adjust the last updated date shown at the top.
